Le nozze di Figaro and Turandot in Prague; Manon and Die Frau ohne Schatten plus a concert at the Musikverein in Vienna; La bohème and Andrea Chénier in Budapest.
Prague, Vienna & Budapest remain three of the finest cities in Europe, each so different, yet their Habsburg roots and musical souls bind them together. We experience the essential elements of each of these Grand Cities while staying in superb hotels, dining in some of the finest restaurants in Europe and hearing sublime performances with ideal casts.
The tour features a diverse slate of performances in some of the most storied venues Europe. In Prague, we hear Mozart’s timeless Le nozze di Figaro in the Neoclassical jewel that is the Estates Theatre, plus Turandot at the Karlín. We stay in the preferred Castle District, at the Aria Hotel, one of the finest we have ever used.
In Vienna, we stay at the legendary Sacher Hotel and hear two operas in one of the most important and glorious opera houses in the world, the Vienna State Opera. Massenet’s Manon will be conducted by Frédéric Chaslin and features a stunning cast that includes Juan Diego Flórez and Nino Machaidze; Richard Strauss’s Die Frau ohne Schatten is under the baton of Christian Thielemann and features Stephen Gould, Evelyn Herlitzius and the divine Nina Stemme.
We will hear La bohème and Andrea Chénier at the beautiful Hungarian State Opera in Budapest, and although the names of the singers may not be familiar, do not under-estimate the quality of these world-class productions. Our hotel here is the fabulous Four Seasons Gresham Palace, where we have views of the Chain Bridge over the Danube.
