Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Fire Shut Up in My Bones and Tosca, plus the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Art/Architecture tours, Oak Park (Frank Lloyd Wright), highlights of The Loop, gourmet cuisine and wine. Peninsula Hotel.
The only way to deal with our disappointment at missing the 2020 Ring in Chicago is to return and do the best tour possible of one of our favourite cities.
We have top-category orchestra seats for three performances at Lyric Opera–Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, Terence Blanchard’s opera Fire Shut Up in My Bones, based on the book by Charles M. Blow, starring Will Liverman, Latonia Moore, Jacqueline Echols, Chauncey Packer and Christopher Kenney, and Puccini’s Tosca starring Michelle Bradley, Russell Thomas, Fabián Veloz, Rodell Rosel and Alan Higgs. Any lectures and special Ring events that coincide with our attendance will be included. We will also include any concerts announced by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra that occur during our stay.
We will stay for 8 nights in Deluxe rooms at The Peninsula Chicago, the five-star hotel on the Magnificent Mile that brought traditional Asian service to a city already renowned for the warmth of its hospitality. The Peninsula has received a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating each year since its opening, and was named the #1 hotel in Chicago and the #2 hotel in the USA in 2018 by U.S. News and World Report.
In addition to full breakfast each day and 7 additional exquisite meals, we will enjoy private art and architecture tours around the city, with a special focus on the work of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Only 18 spaces will be available.
